what I love wednesday: the bunting place

March 25, 2015

every single time i post a picture of my workshop, i always get asked where i got my giant paintbrush and my bunting from. i know. i LOVE them too! ;)

i found the paintbrush at pottery barn kids about 5 years ago, and they don't have it anymore. boo! but, my bunting is from The Bunting Shop. i LOVE the Bunting Shop. tina is the creator behind this Etsy shop and i love her unique color patterns and vintage fabrics. she has many different styles of garland and even a few quilts made of vintage fabric. they are so adorable!

==========

Hi! I'm Tina! Wife and mom to three through the amazing gift of adoption. We moved from California to Minnesota four years ago, and have survived. So far. I am a photographer and singer, foodie and avid reader. I'm addicted to coffee. In my life so far, I've been a real estate appraiser, office manager, photographer, contributing editor and scrapbook designer for a scrapbooking magazine, quilter and now Etsy shop owner. What's next?

what spurred you into starting your own business and when did it launch?

When bunting started becoming popular about 5 years ago, just as I was closing my photographer and scrapbooking businesses, I decided to give an Etsy business a go and started my shop as tinamagee.etsy.com in May 2010. Etsy was still growing and it's been fun growing along with them.

what is the number one thing you would recommend for others thinking of starting their own small business?

Good photography! When selling online you REALLY only have one chance to make that good impression. If your photos aren't eye-catching, potential buyers will just skim right past you. I'm always changing and improving my photos for my shop to keep things fresh and inviting, and I really think that's helped keep my shop busy.

what is the hardest thing about being self-employed?

That it's not always possible to stick to a schedule. I find myself working throughout the day and into the night.

when does creativity strike?

At the most random and sometimes inopportune times. Like in the middle of the night or at the dentist. :)

what is your fav place to buy your fabric?

My name is Tina and I'm addicted to thrift shopping (and coffee). Almost all of my vintage sheet fabrics come from thrift stores, and occasionally from other Etsy sellers or eBay. New fabrics are usually bought from The Fat Quarter Shop

what are your two favorite instagram feeds you are following?

As a foodie, I'm loving inspiralized and grizzlykitchen
